What is the relationship between Winter Solstice, Midwinter, The Longest Night and the end of the world?

This year, Winter Solstice will be on 5:30am UTC time December 21. On this date, all places above a latitude of 66.5 degrees north will be in darkness, while locations below a latitude of 66.5 degrees south receive 24 hours of daylight. Whooaaah!

Winter Solstice also well known as "Midwinter" or "The Longest Night". Some people also refer it as the first day of winter.

"Astronomically marks the beginning of

shortening nights and lengthening days."

The December solstice occurs when the sun reaches its most southerly declination of -23.5 degrees. By contrast, the North Pole is tilted 23.5 degrees away from the sun. (See picture if you're confuse :)  )

Solstice in December

Depending on the Gregorian calendar, the December solstice occurs annually on a day between December 20 and December 23.

Next year, winter solstice will be on December 21 and many have speculated (not necessary be true, however) to be the Armageddon. Just be alert and be FULL prepare. The Doomsday may be this year, too!
